The Young People’s Laureate for London Tour 2017 takes place in libraries in Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Croydon, Merton and Newham in October 2017.
Here are 6 ways young people aged 13 – 25 can get involved in the Young People’s Laureate for London Tour:
1.Take part in free co-production groups – for aspiring event organisers
Co-production groups are for 13 – 25 year olds who live in or near the Tour locations, to meet up and develop a day of workshops and an event that will celebrate poetry and spoken word performance in their borough. If you or someone you know is aged 13 to 25 and interested in writing or performing poetry, arts and creative events management, event tech or lighting or PR, marketing and media, this is a chance to gain practical experience and skills. You’ll need to commit to three/four meetings in September and October in the lead up to the events as well as support the event on the day.

2. Visit the Poetry Takeaway
A visit to The Poetry Takeaway is an unforgettable experience. A specially-selected menu of poets will deliver custom-made poetry to young people from a custom-designed poetry bar. Basically, you have a chat to a poet about something that fascinates you / you love / you find weird and one of their top poetry chefs will create a poem for you there and then about whatever it is you order! As well as delivering some top poetry meals for specially invited young people, The Poetry Takeaway will also be parking up in selected venues near the libraries where you can rock up and order a custom made poetry meal to feed your soul!
