Call out for emerging poets to work on a London black cab project with Dan Simpson

Archive

Poet and producer Dan Simpson is looking for 7 emerging poets and spoken word artists to take part in an Arts Council funded project On The Cotton.

You will be paired up with one of London’s black cab drivers and collaborate on a poem together. This could be about London, working as a cabbie / poet, the Knowledge, your lives, interesting stories from work… wherever the direction takes you. Everyone will then come together to read the co-created poems in a final celebratory event. You’ll also be offered professional development and one-to-one-mentoring to further your creativity, craft, and career.

The project is for emerging artists. You will have some professional or paid experience such as publications or feature performances. Collaborations and mentoring will begin in April, with the final event in June. You will be paid a fee of £600. This fee is all inclusive, so it’s recommended this opportunity is for poets based in or near London as there is no additional travel budget.
