1. Why is the majority of your work only for writers in London?

open & close FAQs

Spread the Word is funded by Arts Council England to support writers in London.

Anyone can join our London Writers Network and most of our programme of events and workshops are open to all writers. We’ll clearly label the opportunities that are only open to writers in London.

2. Will you read my work and give me feedback?

open & close FAQs

We are a small team and we can’t read work to provide feedback to everyone that asks. We run Free Reads once a year with The Literary Consultancy to provide talented emerging writers with free editorial reads of their work. We offer 1-2-1s for fiction writers and poets – the dates are posted in Workshops and Events.

3. Will you give me funding?

open & close FAQs

Unless you are applying to one of our targeted programmes that involves funding, we are unable to support any unsolicited requests for funding. Our London Writers Network events and newsletter are a great resource to find out about funding opportunities open to writers.

6. Will you review my book?

open & close FAQs

If you would like to be considered to be featured in an interview, or by writing a (paid) thought-piece for us, please email Aliya Gulamani, Communications and Projects Assistant, aliya@spreadtheword.org.uk. We consider requests for features and interviews on a case-by-case basis in line with our mission, vision and values and team capacity.

7. Will you promote my event / opportunity / workshop / project?

open & close FAQs

We try to promote as many opportunities that will benefit writers in London in line with our mission, vision and values as possible via our social media channels and newsletter. Email Aliya@spreadtheword.org.uk if you have something you’d like us to consider promoting.
