Deptford Literature Festival is coming back to Deptford on Saturday 16 March 2024! The Festival, run by Spread the Word in collaboration with creative producer Tom MacAndrew, celebrates the diversity and creativity of Deptford and Lewisham through words, stories and performance, with the local community and accessibility at its heart.
Deptford Literature Festival is aimed at local audiences, and will feature literature’s diverse rising stars in talks, workshops, performances and events for adults, children & families. For those not able to attend the events in person, there will be opportunities to take part at home.
We currently have three live opportunities for local writers and organisations to apply to take part:

Open Call for Festival activity – Apply for one of our 3-5 open commissions of up to £750 to deliver Deptford Literature Festival activity and be part of our great programme. Open to writers, artists, arts organisations, community organisations that are based in Deptford or Lewisham or London based but have strong connections to Deptford or Lewisham. Open Call for Deaf and Disabled Writers’ Commissions for Deptford Literature Festival 2024 – Open to London based writers aged 18+ who are deaf and/or disabled. The opportunity is for 3x writers to receive a £1,000 commission each to produce work for #DeptfordLitFest 2024. Each commission has an additional activation budget, an access support budget, mentoring and professional development. Applications are open now and you can apply online or by post. Judges are Joe Rizzo Naudi and Ayesha Chouglay. Deadline for applications is Tuesday 7 November, 1pm.
