Editing Fiction with Ana Fletcher

Learn the tips and tricks of a senior book editor and apply their techniques to your own work in progress – with publisher and editor Ana Fletcher.

How does a professional editor approach a manuscript? What questions do they ask themselves and their author? Using a combination of real-life examples and practical exercises, senior editor Ana Fletcher will lead you through her editing process and show you how to apply simple and effective techniques to your own work in progress.

What will you do in the workshop?

You’ll develop the skills to read your own work critically. In the first half of the workshop we’ll look at structural editing, exploring the conventions of form and genre and their importance in the editing process. In the second half of the workshop we’ll hone in on line editing: how can you make sure your sentences are working as hard as possible for you?

Who is this masterclass for?

This is for fiction writers of all levels, as well as for anybody interested in the art of editing and exploring how fiction works. The masterclass is limited to 20 places, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
