Introduction to Crime Fiction: How to Write Quality Crime Fiction with Characters That Leave a Lasting Impression with Saima Mir

Deciding to write crime fiction can be a daunting task. You need a strong hook, characters that leave an impression, and of course there is the small matter of the ‘the crime.’ During the process, writers can sometimes lose sight of the actual story as they attempt to thicken their plot and add twists and turns to keep readers guessing.

In this course you will learn about my approach to writing genre-busting crime fiction for readers of the genre, and for the wider literary world. Crime readers are savvy, and aware of the twists and turns employed by writers of the genre. They also enjoy learning something new whilst being entertained.

We will discuss pinning down your story, cooking up characters with depth, developing structure, and nailing that first draft. The course is designed for you to do at your own pace. You do not need to share work, or ‘turn up’ to an event.
