Uprising and Resistance Book Launch

Uprising & Resistance is a series of poetry and visual art commissions, responding to academic research into the archives of Lloyd’s insurance market, which sheds light on the critical roles that City of London merchants, financiers and underwriters played in the British trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Join us for an evening of readings and discussions from the poets and artists: Courtney Conrad, Remi Graves, Keith Jarrett, Levi Naidu-Mitchell, Jess Nash and malakaï sargeant.

Free copies of the Uprising & Resistance anthology will be available, and drinks and refreshments will be provided.

St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace Venue, 78 Bishopsgate, London, England, EC2N 4AG.

Uprising & Resistance is based on research by Dr Alexandre White and Pyar Seth who led a financially independent research collaboration between Lloyd’s and Black Beyond Data, a Mellon Foundation funded project based at Johns Hopkins University.
