The Four Ages of Woman: Poetry and Mental Health workshops

Archive

Join Young People’s Laureate for London, Theresa Lola, for a series of free poetry workshops exploring different perspectives on mental health and the female experience. Taking place at Bethlem Museum of the Mind, the sessions are for aspiring female writers – if you’re just starting out or are already writing, aged 18-25.

The workshops will use archival artworks, contemporary artworks and poetry to facilitate conversations on women and mental health: from body image to anxiety disorders, and the language of illness used to label women. Participants will be writing poems and elevating their voices to create poetry for display in the gallery; and for performance at a special public event: demanding their voices and stories are noticed.

Workshops: Tuesdays 10, 17 and 24 March. 5:00-6.30pm

Event: Saturday 28th March: 2:00-3.30pm

Location: Bethlem Museum of the Mind, Bethlem Royal Hospital, BR3 3BX

To register for a place, please contact: Tom MacAndrew, [email protected].

Participants must be able to attend all sessions in order to take part.
