Urban Bloggers
A six-week advanced course for bloggers
Using London as inspiration, these weekly sessions will look at site-specific writing using the metropolis as a base to explore the relationship between text and images.
These six workshops will improve your writing across all media by using the blog as an interactive space to enrich the creative process. During the course you will be able to work on a micro-collection of short stories, poetry, topical commentary non-fiction, or devise collaborations or ideas for residencies.
Participants will need to be familiar with computers and have access to a digital camera or camera phone.
Karen McCarthy was poet in residence at Spread the Word in 2005 and her resulting poetry chapbook, The Worshipful Company of Pomegranate Slicers, was selected by the New Statesman as their 2006 Book of the Year. She has edited two critically acclaimed anthologies, Bittersweet: Black Women’s Contemporary Poetry and Kin. Her blog address is www.blaglady.com.
