Love the idea of reading poetry but don?t really know where to start?Fancy the idea of trying your hand at writing a poem but too busy to think about it? Caf? Time gives you the opportunity to try your hand at reading and writing poetry in the informal environment of The Poetry Caf? during your lunch hour.Grab a sandwich and a cup of tea and let Mimi Khalvati take you through a series of poetry taster sessions.

Day 1 ?I wouldn?t know where to start?.
A basic introduction to writing your first poem.
Day 2 ?I know what I like and I like what I know?.
What different kinds of poetry are there? A chance to know and like more.
Day 3 ?What does it all mean??
Poetic devices, an introduction to how they work.
Day 4 ?Where to next??
How to develop your writing to the next stage.

Tutor: Mimi Khalvati

Mimi Khalvati is a poet and creative writing tutor. She has published five collections of poetry with Carcanet Press, including her Selected Poems in 2000 and, most recently, The Chine. She is the founder of The Poetry School, which offers a core programme of tuition designed to encourage the writing and reading of poetry.
